Resumen: The inversion is a birational map from the space of square matrices to itself. The concrete resolution of the indeterminacy locus were studied in lots of different contests. One such example is the Maximum Likelihood Degree (ML degree) which measures algebraic complexity of a statistical model. In a joint work with Michalek and Wisniewski we relate the inversion of matrices to the geometry of the action of tori on Grassmanians. This provides a new approaches to calculation of ML-degrees: one via classical Schubert calculus and one via Gromov-Witten like invariants.
