Resumen: Motivic cohomology is a cohomology theory for varieties, and more generally, schemes that captures and intertwines both arithmetic and geometric properties. I will give a revisionist account of the theory in the context of smooth schemes and then explain an extension of this theory obtained in joint work with Matthew Morrow. I will attempt to keep the exposition friendly to non-experts and encourage more people to think about this exciting area!
