Resumen: A congruence of lines is an irreducible surface in the Grassmann variety of lines in $P^3$. Since Kummer, the study and the classification of congruences of lines has been a favorite subject of differential and algebraic geometers. I will give a brief introduction of the theory of congruences and consider with more details congruences of order one and two that lead to some interesting constructions of Cremona involutions of $P^3$
